1. Apparently the battery doesn’t have run-down protection. One dome light left on by the kids later....
2. Seat squeak was fixed by the only Mazda dealer 30 miles away (the closer one closed down) and they broke a airbag/seat belt chime wiring connector under the seat.... left the roll of electrical tape they fixed it with though! Bonus!! So that connector is broke and I don’t trust the fucks to fix it.
3. Speaking of the fucks, they broke the two clips that hold the plastic shield to the side of the seat where the up/down adjustment lever is (manual seat) and didn’t have it re-attached properly. I was able to reattach it but REALLY????
4. Gas mileage hasn’t been great.
5. Liftgate sometimes will not close on the first slam. I am not having the fucks adjust the striker. I might do it myself this weekend.

My wife wants a CX5 for a baby hauler. Are you happy with it overall?
![]() 07/28/2016 at 17:45 |

Overall yes. Not sure if a rear facing child seat would fit in it, but our 7 and 10 year old have enough room back there.

The boy just turned one and he’s a brute so he’s already in a forward facing unit. I worry about him kicking the back seat and jacking up the upholstery. We need something with more space than her Corolla.

I went and looked at one the other day, took our extra rear facing seat with me. It fit about as well as it does in my JSW, hope you don’t put the front seat too far back. Ours was a key fit 30, if you have one of the larger convertible ones you may be out of luck.

Rear facing wouldn’t be factor now as my boy is in a front facing seat but that may be problematic if/when the next kid comes along.

My 7 year old’s legs are still at dangle-y length, so she kicks the seat occasionally. We have tan interior (only combo available at the time) but its holding up, and cleans up easy enough.

Awesome! Thank you.

Ah I am going to have 1 front and 1 rear facing for while. Munchkin 2 arrives in october.

Congrats! We’re opting to space the kiddos out by at least 2 years.

Ours are going to be two weeks off of being 2 years apart. The boy has been right on the edge of going to a front facing seat for about a month but as he still fits the rear seat I haven’t swapped them.

I was nervous moving to front facing based on the age requirement but then I studied the height and weight specs and knew I was ok. Little man is just too long and too thick.

Yes, it will baby. Our youngest is in a rear-facing seat, room in front of that is tight, but doable. No issues with our older forward facing kid. We did buy covers to protect the back is the seats though.

[Whispers] like a Land Cruiser....

I’ll definitely be buying seat covers.

She wants the Mazda bad! I floated the idea of the Land Cruiser from Drive Auto several times for me to replace the Audi. But she thinks it’s “old”. I can’t drill into her enough that they are bullet proof. I bring it up a couple times a week. Get shot down every time.
![]() 07/28/2016 at 18:36 |

Well you could just buy one for yourself, get rid of the A4 and Corolla, and get her the CX-5
![]() 07/28/2016 at 18:41 |

That’s what I want to do. Trade the Audi in on the Cruiser, end up with like a 10k loan on it. Then go and dump the Corolla for the Mazda. Everyone is happy!
But she’s worried about “money” and “finances” and “mortgages” and “bills”. PPFFFFFTTT. Give me my Land Cruiser!

Meanwhile my wife is begging me to spend actual money on a “nice” car. With “airbags” and “ABS” and “not 35 years old.”
MARRIAGE!!!

I’m inclined to agree with her. Not that I don’t love the Paseo and all.

I love the Paseo, but it is not the easiest car to daily.

I imagine. Treat yourself to something nice. You’ve earned it.
Honesty, I’m quickly tiring of shifting in all our bullshit traffic. I want some comfort and more utility.

Same. But the pickup doesn’t count. It’s the greatest manual shifting vehicle on the planet. If only you knew the JOY
![]() 07/28/2016 at 18:58 |

Oh I know the joy. I miss my Toyotas.

What mileage are you getting on the CX5?

With the wife’s leadfoot? 25ish. During winter it was 22-23. All mostly highway, too.
With me driving I’ve gotten her average up to 28, but then she screws it up the next time she drives.
